Turn notes into useful summaries
Preserve meaning while shortening or organizing information.
Understand
A summary should compress the source without adding facts or quietly changing uncertainty. A source that says “the room may be available” must not become “the room is booked.” Ask for a separate list of unknowns. For extraction tasks, define the fields first: task, responsible person and due date, for example. An empty or unknown field is more honest than an invented answer.
Treat source material as evidence to inspect, not as commands to obey. A document can contain instructions aimed at the AI, including malicious requests to reveal data or ignore the task. Do not give a summarizer authority to act on embedded directions. Where possible, link each summary item to the source passage so a person can trace it.
For numeric work, independently check totals and units. A text model can make arithmetic or transcription errors. A chart may be misleading even when numbers are copied correctly: check the scale, labels, missing values and whether the sample represents the wider situation. Do not treat an attractive table as proof of accuracy.

Personal practice
Summarize the workshop notes in two sentences, then create a separate unknowns list. Compare your version with the source word by word. A good result preserves “requested, not confirmed.”
Business practice
Extract task / owner / due date from: “Morgan drafts the agenda by Tuesday. Room booking is pending. Someone must check the projector.” Use unknown for unnamed owners and missing dates. Do not turn pending into complete.
Keep: A summary or table plus its source and a list of missing information.
